Our Story

“I founded Folio with the intention of building something more considered, an agency grounded in human connection, industry understanding and long-term thinking. We measure success not by placements alone, but by the strength and longevity of the matches we deliver.”
“As a designer myself, it was important to create a brand that truly reflects the industry we serve, one that understands the value of detail and where both clients and candidates feel confident in us as their trusted representative and guardian of their careers and projects.”

“As a team of former creatives, we remain closely connected to the industry, actively engaged with design culture, studio movements and the evolving property landscape that shapes our clients’ worlds. We recognise that modern careers are rarely one-size-fits-all and bring a thoughtful, forward-looking perspective to how we support both clients and candidates.”

Our Ethos

At FOLIO, we believe in real relationships, real growth, and real longevity. We operate as long-term partners to the design community, investing in every client and candidate as if we are part of the studio we represent. Our approach is transparent, collaborative, and defind by trust. We don’t chase quick wins, transactional placements or short-term fixes, and we are not the right agency for those who do. With decades of combined experience, our team has built a global network of studios and designers who share our values.

We connect people and studios that genuinely align, because their projects and careers are too important to compromise. Our layered recruitment process is founded on authenticity and relationship building, ensuring every connection is thoughtful, strategic, and built to last. Our team are all ex-creatives, who have a real passion for the industry and keep ourselves immersed in trends, design, the property market and cultural events.

Diversity and Inclusion

At Folio, we believe diversity is shaped through action, not statements.

As a recruitment partner working closely with studios and designers, we’re conscious of the role we play in who gets seen, shortlisted, and hired. Our approach focuses on practical steps that support fairer access and more considered hiring processes across the industry, informed by both data and lived experience within the team.
Folio is led by a female founder and has a team largely made up of women. This perspective informs how we approach conversations around hiring, representation, and progression, ensuring these considerations are embedded in the way we work day to day.
We actively seek to broaden the range of candidates presented to clients, with a focus on increasing visibility for designers from underrepresented backgrounds. This is supported through targeted sourcing, ongoing industry engagement, and a commitment to recognising potential beyond traditional pathways.
To help reduce unconscious bias, we offer anonymised CVs and portfolios at early stages of shortlisting. We also support fairer salary conversations, focusing on role expectations and market benchmarks rather than salary history.

Healing homes for domestic abuse survivors

Furnishing Futures is an innovative new charity founded by former social worker and interior designer, stylist and writer Emily Wheeler. We combine social work values with interior design skills to create trauma-informed, fully furnished healing homes for women and children escaping domestic abuse who are placed in empty social housing or living with furniture poverty, and who have experienced multiple disadvantages and trauma.

Folio have partnered with Furnishing Futures and have pledged to donate a percentage of profits to their amazing cause.
