Goldstein Heather is a London-based, design-led architectural practice working across a range of sectors, with experience spanning residential, mixed-use commercial, hospitality and emerging typologies. The studio is known for creating contemporary architecture that is grounded in context, materially expressive and spatially ambitious. Sustainability is embedded in the practice’s design thinking, with a focus on intelligent reuse of sites, low-carbon construction, and buildings that prioritise daylight, longevity and quality of life.
West London House is the transformation and expansion of an end-of-terrace family home in Stamford Brook, enabled by the redevelopment of an adjacent underutilised brownfield site. While the original house was substantial, its narrow floorplate limited everyday living. The opportunity to build laterally allowed for the creation of generous, light-filled spaces for cooking, dining and entertaining, fundamentally reshaping how the home is used. The new four-storey addition is conceived as an equal architectural partner to the original house. Its design is unmistakably contemporary and geometrically expressive, organised around interconnected multi-level spaces that promote visual connection, daylight and a sense of openness throughout the home.

Carefully positioned voids, galleries and curved elements help modulate light and create a rich sequence of spaces. Sustainability was a key driver of the project. The structure is predominantly timber, incorporating hempcrete infill to reduce embodied carbon, alongside selective reuse of existing foundations. The building is designed to maximise daylight and long-term adaptability, supporting a robust and low-energy family home. Together, the combined dwelling now provides approximately 500 sqm of accommodation.
Goldstein Heather led the project from concept and planning through to construction under a traditional building contract. The project was completed in May 2025.
