Banda is a London-based interior architecture and design studio working across the UK and internationally, with a portfolio spanning exceptional private residences, luxury residential developments, hospitality, aviation and branded residences. Founded in 2009, the studio is recognised for creating architecturally considered spaces defined by craftsmanship, thoughtful materiality and enduring elegance.

The studio offers a comprehensive service encompassing Interior Architecture, Interior Design and FF&E, as well as in-house Procurement and Installation, ensuring a cohesive approach from concept to completion.

Each project is shaped by a sensitive understanding of its location, heritage, architectural context and the lifestyles of those who inhabit it. Guided by the belief that interiors should feel intrinsic to their architecture, Banda creates distinctive, deeply personal spaces that balance timeless sophistication with a quiet sense of refinement.

Inside the historic walls of London’s former Old War Office, The Westminster Residence offers a contemporary interpretation of one of the capital’s most distinguished addresses. Set within the Grade II* listed Edwardian Baroque landmark and spanning more than 5,500 sq ft, the duplex apartment brings together the building’s remarkable heritage with a rich, layered approach to contemporary interiors.

Banda’s vision centred on creating a home that felt collected over time, where vintage finds, bespoke furniture and considered material combinations establish a dialogue between past and present. Instead of competing with the building’s architectural grandeur, the interiors introduce warmth and individuality through pieces selected for their character, craftsmanship and enduring appeal.

A carefully curated collection of furniture brings together contrasting periods and influences. A vintage French tapestry introduces a sense of history upon arrival, while bespoke pieces, including a burl dining table with delicately detailed edges, offer a contemporary expression of traditional craftsmanship. Throughout, darker timbers, expressive stone and lacquered finishes are balanced with the sumptuous softness of bouclé, mohair and shearling, creating an interior that feels both sophisticated and inviting.

The living room is arranged around a bespoke bar, where bold lacquer, antique brass, antiqued mirror and burl combine to create a centrepiece for entertaining. Paired with a freestanding Cipollino marble-topped bar, the arrangement establishes a natural connection between the principal living spaces and the expansive terraces beyond.

Each private space offers its own interpretation of comfort. The principal bedroom adopts a lighter, more restful palette, contrasted by deeper, atmospheric tones in the guest suite and study, where mural wallcoverings lend a sense of intimacy.

Beyond the interiors, the terraces draw inspiration from London’s neighbouring Royal Parks. Carefully considered planting incorporates poppies, a subtle acknowledgement of the building’s wartime heritage and its association with Winston Churchill.

The result is a home that celebrates the relationship between history and modernity, where furniture and craftsmanship bring a new sense of life to a landmark London address.
