the details

A rare opening at one of the UK’s most respected architectural practices for an ambitious Interior Designer with strong FF&E skills looking to take the next step.

about the position

This position is suited to an experienced Middleweight Designer ready to take the next step in their career, with a clear pathway to progress into a Senior role within the next 12 months. Working closely alongside the Interior Design Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in growing the interiors division within an established architectural practice.

This is an exciting time to join the studio. The designer will immediately take ownership of the FF&E design for a new high-end residential scheme in Holland Park, leading the process from inception through to completion. While the role is predominantly FF&E-focused, the designer will collaborate closely with the wider team across all stages of the design process to ensure a cohesive and well-resolved outcome.

The studio does not follow a defined house style, instead responding thoughtfully to each individual client brief, which can vary significantly in aesthetic direction. The consistent thread across their work is a refined, material-led approach that pays close attention to interior architecture, with a strong emphasis on high-end finishes, considered detailing and bespoke joinery.

This is a highly client-facing role, requiring confidence in presenting concepts and proposals. The designer must be comfortable managing client feedback and pushback, and able to respond with well-reasoned solutions, strong alternatives and persuasive design rationale.

about the candidate

The ideal candidate will hold a BA in Interior Design (or equivalent) and bring a minimum of 5 years’ experience within high-end residential design, ideally gained at a leading London studio.

They will have a strong eye for detail across FF&E and accessories, supported by excellent knowledge of the luxury supplier base and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, artisans, and consultants. Confident assisting in the development of scheme designs, they will be experienced in developing FF&E concepts, sourcing and specifying premium furniture, lighting, fabrics, and accessories, and preparing detailed FF&E schedules and presentation packages.

The candidate will be comfortable managing large FF&E budgets, coordinating with interior architects and wider project teams, reviewing bespoke items and shop drawings, and supporting site installations, dressing, and final styling.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a proactive approach, sound judgement, and the ability to take ownership of projects and resolve issues effectively. Experience in bespoke furniture design and managing residential installations would be advantageous.

about the studio

This well-established architectural practice, with a growing interiors division, has built an enviable reputation for transforming some of London’s most prime properties and private estates for ultra high-profile, discerning private and developer clients.

Working at the very top end of the market, the studio is known for its ambition, craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. Designers here are trusted to take genuine ownership of their work, offering the opportunity not only to help realise exceptional homes but also to develop their careers with real autonomy and visibility.

The small interiors team sits within a mid-sized practice and works from a spacious, light-filled converted studio in the heart of London. The environment is collaborative and supportive, with excellent salary structures, a genuinely social culture including regular outings and trips abroad, ongoing CPD opportunities, and the flexibility of working from home on Fridays.

To be considered, please submit your CV and portfolio. Applicants must have valid Right to Work (RTW) in the UK, as those without will not be eligible.
