Junior Product Designer
About the position
This studio is looking for a Junior Product Designer to support a Senior Designer across the development and delivery of bespoke furniture, lighting and decorative product pieces. The role is focused on the technical side of design and would suit someone early in their career who is looking to build strong experience within a highly detailed, materials-led environment. The successful candidate will assist with technical and fabrication drawings, supplier coordination, sampling, mock-ups and prototype development, working closely with manufacturers and workshops throughout the process. This is not a styling or interiors-focused role, but instead centres around technical product development, materials understanding and fabrication support.
About the candidate
The successful candidate will have a technical understanding of materials, fabrication and manufacturing processes. They will come from a product, furniture or industrial design background and should be comfortable producing technical drawings, coordinating with suppliers and supporting the development of prototype and production pieces.
- Product, furniture or industrial design background
- Strong technical drawing and detailing ability
- Understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Experience coordinating with suppliers and workshops
- Knowledge of prototype and production development
- Understanding of high-quality materials and how they are practically used within fabrication
- Experience or exposure to solid timber construction (Oak/Walnut)
- Knowledge or experience with cast metal and hand-blown, cast or slumped glass
- Understanding of stone, marble and onyx
- Exposure to lighting, ceramics or resin production would be advantageous
This is not a styling or interiors-focused role. The focus is on technical product development, detailing and manufacturing support.
