Technical Designers
About the position
An established interior design studio is creating a new technical team to support the detailed design and construction stages of its growing portfolio of luxury hospitality and hotel projects.
They are looking to appoint two technically strong Interior Designers who can take design intent and develop it into comprehensive, coordinated drawing and specification packages suitable for construction. Working closely with the wider design team, you will help ensure the creative vision is maintained as projects progress through technical development and onto site.
The role will involve producing detailed drawing packages, bespoke joinery and interior architectural details, coordinating materials and finishes, and ensuring specifications provide the level of information required by consultants, contractors and suppliers.
Site experience will be important, giving you a practical understanding of how design information is interpreted and implemented during construction. You will be involved in responding to technical queries, reviewing shop drawings and samples, resolving detailing issues and coordinating design information through the later stages of projects.
About the candidate
The ideal candidate will be a technically accomplished Interior Designer or Interior Architect with strong experience delivering high-end projects through detailed design and construction, ideally within large-scale hospitality and hotels.
- Strong experience across detailed design, technical documentation and construction stages
- Previous experience delivering large-scale hospitality or hotel projects highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of luxury interiors, bespoke detailing and high-end finishes
- Experience producing comprehensive construction drawing and specification packages
- Strong interior architectural detailing skills, including bespoke joinery, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes and specialist elements
- Good understanding of materials, finishes, construction methods and how design details are executed on site
- Experience coordinating drawings and information with architects, consultants, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers
- Previous site experience with the ability to identify and resolve technical and design issues during construction
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, samples and technical submissions against the design intent
- Ability to maintain the quality and integrity of the original design throughout technical development
- Strong understanding of relevant building regulations and practical construction requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, with SketchUp advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach to documentation
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across design and technical teams
