Head of Bespoke Furniture
About the position
This is a newly created position for a senior designer to take ownership of bespoke furniture across a range of high-end interior projects, alongside developing original pieces for a wider furniture collection.
It is a highly creative role, working from initial concept and sketching through to design development and manufacture. You will work closely with the wider interiors team, specialist makers and manufacturers to create one-off pieces with a strong emphasis on craft, materiality and detail.
The role will have a high level of creative autonomy and will become an integral part of the studio. Longer term, there is the opportunity to grow a team around you and help shape this area of the business.
About the candidate
The successful candidate will be a highly creative and experienced furniture designer with a strong background in the luxury sector. You will have an exceptional eye for design, craft and materiality, with experience creating bespoke pieces for interior projects, developing furniture for collections and managing a team.
- Senior to Associate-level experience within furniture design
- Strong portfolio of bespoke furniture designed specifically for high-end interior projects
- Experience developing original furniture or product pieces for a collection
- Strong creative and conceptual design skills, with an excellent eye for proportion, materials and detail
- Able to take a piece from initial sketches and concept through to technical development and manufacture
- Excellent understanding of furniture construction, joinery, finishes and materials
- Experience working closely with specialist makers, craftspeople and manufacturers
- Confident reviewing technical drawings, shop drawings, samples and prototypes
- Strong 2D and 3D design skills using AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp or similar
- Someone who wants to remain hands-on creatively while taking on a more senior role and growing a team

An established London studio working across exceptional private residential and hospitality projects in the UK and internationally. The team works across both the creative and delivery sides of projects, with a strong focus on considered design, bespoke detailing and quality.
