Head of Business Development & Communications
About the position
The Head of Business Development & Communications is a senior leadership role responsible for driving our client’s growth, profile and market positioning. Working closely with the Directors and Associate Directors, the role combines strategic business development with communications and brand leadership to ensure the practice wins the right projects, communicates its work effectively and maintains a strong, consistent identity. Leading a small team, the successful candidate will oversee new business opportunities, bids and competitions, marketing and communications, brand management, content creation, events and industry engagement, while contributing to the wider strategic direction of the practice.
About the candidate
- Significant experience in business development, marketing and communications within a UK architecture practice.
- Strong understanding of UK procurement processes, competitive tendering and bid management.
- Proven track record of securing new work and leading successful bids, pitches, competitions and presentations.
- Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop compelling narratives and high-quality content.
- Experience developing and implementing business development, marketing and communications strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with senior leadership teams and clients.
- Previous team management experience, with the ability to mentor, develop and coordinate others.
- Strong visual awareness and understanding of design-led communication.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace and social media platforms.
- Established network and understanding of the architecture, design and wider built environment sectors.
- Experience overseeing PR, digital communications, social media, websites, awards and industry engagement.
- Commercially aware, strategic and proactive, with excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Interest in architecture, design and culture, with a collaborative and studio-focused approach.
- Experience within interiors, brand development, communications strategy or press relations would be advantageous.
